About Glassport

A native Mac workspace for working with your physical iPad.

Work with the device you already use

Glassport puts a live view of your physical iPad in a native Mac window. You can control the device with your Mac’s keyboard and pointer, open its installed apps, copy text between the two machines, and transfer files through supported app Documents areas.

The interface is written in Swift and AppKit. Its toolbar, menus, text fields, file chooser and file transfers use native Mac controls. Screen-only mode gives the iPad picture the window; Escape restores the workspace.

A connection you control

The Mac and iPad communicate over your existing Tailscale network using an encrypted, authenticated device connection. Glassport imports an existing developer-device pairing for that specific iPad. It does not create device trust, turn on Developer Mode or configure your VPN.

Automatic network and USB discovery have limitations in the app’s sandbox. Importing a valid pairing is the working connection path. Read the setup requirements before planning to use Glassport with another device.

Keep captures and passages together

Live pictures are displayed without automatically saving them. Capture saves a picture when you request it. You can also collect copied text in order and save the collection as Markdown, including repeated passages and the source details attached to each entry.

An authenticated local MCP interface lets tools on your Mac use the same controller session. Those tools follow their own privacy rules when they receive your content. The privacy policy explains the data flow.

Supported file and folder transfers

Glassport accesses Documents areas that the selected iPad app makes available. It copies files and folders while preserving their sources, refuses an existing destination name and does not follow symbolic links.
